Teak Deck and New Coachtop 17 meter schooner 2015/2016

Bodrum Yacht Services has been contracted to replace the teak side and fore deck areas on a traditional 35 year old 18m wooden schooner

he  teak deck was laid over the original oak deck in 2000 and was therefore up for replacement as additional to it wearing thin there were areas where water was leaking to inside a couple of the cabins.

The owners also wanted Bodrum Yacht Services  to strip the polyester coating from the coach top and inspect this with a view to replacing some of the wood .First job was to have a complete cover made for the boat so work could progress unhindered by the weather. As a free unframed cover it will also last to enclose the boat for many winters to come. While the cover was being fabricated the team set to work to remove all the fore deck hardware, bowsprit and seating area. This completed the teak  decking was then removed to expose the original oak deck. This was found to have many areas of rot so it to was also removed. Fortunately except for a couple of places the rot  had not extended to the beams, so caught just in time. Two cross beams in the fore deck area were replaced due to the excess number of nail and screw holes and an additional longitudinal beam was installed to beef up the area under the hydraulic anchor winch.
